Asian Games 2023 for cricket will be over on October 8th. By then, the important World Cup fixtures would have not started. Nevertheless, if India has some injury issues, they could look at some of the players in the Asian Games squad to return from China. Here, we take a look at three players in the Asian Games 2023 squad who might be called back if any injury in India’s World Cup squad.

1) Tilak Varma

Tilak Varma was a part of the Indian Team in the recent ODI tournaments. He will next represent the nation at the ongoing Asian Games.

If India has some injury problems to the middle-order batters, it is clear that it is Tilak Varma who will replace them. His role is, therefore, important in this context.

2) Ruturaj Gaikwad

Role clarity has been very important in recent months. For Ruturaj Gaikwad, it is clear that his role in the Indian Team will only be as an opener.

Currently, India has Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill as the openers. While Ishan Kishan will serve as the backup option, if there is an injury, it is obvious that an opener shall be needed as a replacement. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the skipper of the Asian Games side, might then need to come back.

3) Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi is one of the players in the Asian Games 2023 squad who might be called back if any injury in India’s World Cup squad. India’s spin trio includes Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav. In some games, all these three players could feature.

Even if one of the players gets injured, it would be a massive problem. If Axar Patel is fit, he will come into the picture. If not, either Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi might get a chance. Considering the unique attributes he offers, Ravi stands a better chance here.
