As per reports, there will be a mega auction before IPL 2025. The No.3 role has been a problem for CSK in IPL 2024. They might try to go for a big name for this slot in the IPL 2025 Auctions. Here, we take a look at the list of three players CSK could target for the No.3 role in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
Note: We have considered players who could be released by their existing franchises based on their current form.
1) Aiden Markram
Aiden Markram is one of the players CSK could target for the No.3 role in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. Surely, Markram will be released by SRH before IPL 2025 because the likes of Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen will get preference.
Markram is an intelligent cricketer and can hold an inning together. Plus, he can also offer some off-spin. Therefore, he would be ideal for CSK at No.3 in the future.
2) Mitchell Marsh
With Jake Fraser-McGurk and Tristan Stubbs in terrific form, it is highly unlikely that the Delhi Capitals will retain Mitchell Marsh. Hence, he could be available in the auctions.
Marsh would just be the perfect signing for CSK. He is ideal for the CSK philosophy and would be the much-needed option that the franchise will have in the middle order. Marsh would also be of great help to Ruturaj Gaikwad in the leadership group.
3) Nitish Rana
It is because of an injury that Nitish Rana has not played much in IPL 2024. With the likes of Rinku Singh and Shreyas Iyer likely to be retained, Nitish could be available in the auctions.
Rana is excellent against spin. He is a left-hander and can play the long innings if required. The Delhi-based player can also offer some right-arm off-spin. He has enough experience to get used to his role quickly. CSK would prefer to have such a player in their ranks.
