As per reports, Chennai Super Kings is all set to release Ben Stokes back to the auctions. This mainly has to do with the uncertainty surrounding the player’s availability for next season. Since Ben has a huge sum blocked, CSK has taken the call to release him so that they can invest the money in other players. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players CSK could sign to replace Ben Stokes for IPL 2024.
1) Travis Head
Travis Head has been in stunning form in recent years. While he has operated as an opener, Travis Head initially started out as a middle-order batter. If he can do that again, CSK will find him as a useful target.
The Aussie does have some issues against spin. However, if he gets a chance to play at No.3, he can avoid the problem. Anyways, at CSK, he has a chance to develop his skills.
2) Daryl Mitchell
Daryl Mitchell is one of the players CSK could sign to replace Ben Stokes for IPL 2024. The Kiwi had a stint back at Rajasthan Royals a few seasons ago. However, it was not a memorable one. That said, he is in better form right now.
Also, teams are now aware of how best to use him. CSK likes players who can offer performances in more than one department. Daryl’s slow medium-pace is something that can be useful at Chepauk. Hence, he would be an ideal candidate for CSK to replace Stokes.
3) Rachin Ravindra
Rachin Ravindra is the in-form cricketer at the moment. While he is impressing everyone with the bat, he is also a good spin bowler.
If CSK can offer a role in the top-order, Rachin Ravindra would be a suitable signing for CSK. The spin attack would have one more option if the Kiwi comes to the franchise.
