As per the latest reports, each team could be allowed 3 retentions and 1 RTM before the IPL 2025 Auctions. For most of the teams, this is bad news. They have a settled core and they will be forced to release some of their popular names. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players CSK could forcibly release before IPL 2025 if teams are allowed only 3 retentions.
1) Shivam Dube
Shivam Dube is one of the best batters in CSK right now. Yes, the second half of IPL 2024 was bad but Dube has shown enough class for the management to back him. If he further adds to his bowling skills, he would add more value to the side.
However, if Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja and Matheesha Pathirana are retained, Shivam Dube might have to be released. Hence, Shivam is on this list.
2) Ravindra Jadeja
While CSK would want to retain Jadeja, it is not sure what is going through Jaddu’s mind. Also, it would be a toss-up between Jadeja and Dube for CSK.
CSK might consider Jadeja to go for lesser money than Shivam Dube in a Mega Auction. This calculation could make them retain Dube ahead of Jaddu. It may not happen but you cannot rule out anything at the moment.
3) Devon Conway
Devon Conway is one of the players CSK could forcibly release before IPL 2025 if teams are allowed only 3 retentions. The absence of Conway was felt in IPL 2024. If CSK had more retention choices, they would have surely retained the Kiwi because he adds more solidity to the top-order.
However, Conway might now have to be excluded from the discussions. He could be hired at the auctions and also, if he is not gettable, there would be other choices to target. Hence, Conway is on this list.
