Shane Bond has replaced Lasith Malinga as the bowling coach of Rajasthan Royals. Additionally, Bond will also serve as the assistant coach of the side. As a bowling coach, Bond would have some Kiwi pacers in mind to improve the fast-bowling department at RR. On that note, here, we take a look at three New Zealand pacers Shane Bond might target for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024 Auctions.
1) Adam Milne
Barring Trent Boult and Obed McCoy, RR does not have good candidates in the overseas pacers department. Hence, an experienced player like Milne would be an option for the franchise.
Milne has played in the IPL before and knows how things work. He has pace, can hit the deck hard and can also extract some movement. Hence, he can be on the target list for RR.
2) Matt Henry
Matt Henry is one of the New Zealand pacers Shane Bond might target for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024 Auctions. Not popular for his T20 bowling, Matt Henry’s consistency in ODIs could reward him with an IPL contract soon.
Henry is someone who is capable of bowling at different stages of an inning. He also has pace and can hit the deck hard. He has a knack for picking wickets and this can be used by RR, especially in the middle-overs.
3) Kyle Jamieson (if not retained by CSK)
If Jamieson is not retained by Chennai Super Kings, he could be an option for RR. Shane Bond might use him for the same role that RR used Jason Holder in IPL 2023.
Jamieson might not be experienced in the T20 format but he has some solid potential that can be tapped. His height is a factor and he would be a great option to open the bowling, if needed, along with Trent Boult. Of course, he can also add value with the bat and improve the balance of the side, something that RR has been struggling with off-late.
