1) Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ajinkya Rahane
Firstly, it was unclear why Ruturaj Gaikwad was brought down to No.3 when he is one of the best IPL openers in recent times. If Rachin Ravindra is dropped, it is a no-brainer that Rutu has to make his way back to the top of the order.
Ruturaj is the most important batter in the CSK line-up. He must control the batting innings and for that, he has to play as an opener. Hence, this duo is on this list.
2) Ajinkya Rahane and Moeen Ali
Ajinkya Rahane and Moeen Ali duo are one of the new opening combinations CSK could try in the next games of IPL 2024. If CSK wants to stick with Rahane at the top and also wants to drop Rachin Ravindra, Moeen Ali could be a decent pick as an opener.
Moeen Ali has opened the batting in the T20 format before. The other day, he looked to be in good form, especially against the spinners. CSK could bring in Moeen at the top of the order as an aggressive option.
3) Ajinkya Rahane and Daryl Mitchell
Not many remember that Daryl Mitchell actually started his career as an opener. Hence, it does make sense if CSK wants to use him at the top of the order.
Also, this could be a good chance to get Daryl back to form. With the field restrictions in place, the Kiwi will be under less pressure to buy runs, which he is finding it very hard at the moment.
