3 major mistakes SRH made at the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions

In hindsight, it can be easy to comment on how the auction happened. However, Sunrisers Hyderabad did make a few mistakes at the bidding event. Here, we take a look at the list of three major mistakes SRH made at the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.

1) No reliable foreign backups

This was a big error by the management. The likes of Kamindu Mendis, Wiaan Mulder and Eshan Malinga are not ready for the IPL. And, SRH had to use one of them after Adam Zampa was injured. At the base price, SRH could have targeted someone more experienced.

2) Not investing in spin is one of the mistakes by SRH at the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions

In terms of cash, SRH did not spend much on the spin unit. They should have hired a proper all-rounder. A player like R Sai Kishore would have also helped them. The team is now relying on the uncapped Zeeshan Ansari.

3) Not buying a powerplay specialist

It was always known that Pat Cummins would bowl in the middle overs, and Shami’s job would be split across the innings. Hence, SRH had to buy a top-tier powerplay specialist. This would have helped them balance their attack. However, they did not do that, and hence, Pat and Unadkat were bowling with the new ball.
