LSG had a good start to IPL 2025. However, they are now struggling. Poor auction is one of the main reasons why the team has been in bad touch. Here, we take a look at the list of three major mistakes LSG made at the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
1) Overspending on Rishabh Pant
It is easy to comment in hindsight. However, knowing that there is Nicholas Pooran already in the squad, it was a bit surprising to see LSG go so hard for Pant. Pant has had a poor run, and this could be why LSG will fail in IPL this season.
2) Not balancing the overseas combination is one of the mistakes LSG made at the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions
LSG has been playing four overseas batters. While it has been a decent choice, the squad would have been better had they distributed the foreign talent across all the departments. One signing like Josh Hazlewood, for whom they made a bid, would have made this a stronger unit.
3) No experienced bowlers
Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi are the experienced bowlers that LSG had after the auctions. This was really poor by the management. The bowling line-up had to have at least one more experienced bowler. A popular foreign pacer would have helped the side.
