Delhi Capitals is currently at the bottom of the table in IPL 2024. The team has had a terrible start to the tournament. There are many reasons why the squad is not doing well at the moment. 1) Imbalance in the batting unit
For the first few games, DC had David Warner and Mitchell Marsh opening the batting. While it is an aggressive move, it needs to be noted that if this pair failed, the middle order would be thin. This is exactly what happened in those games. DC could not recover after that.
Even now, the team struggles to have a balanced batting unit. Especially when it comes to matchups, it appears that at any given point in time, DC does not have the preferred batters at the crease.
2) Injuries to key players
Injuries to key players are one of the main reasons for the Delhi Capitals’ failure in IPL 2024. Of course, this is one factor that DC cannot do much about. If this problem persists, DC’s campaign might be over soon.
Kuldeep Yadav is probably the best spinner in India right now. He would have made a massive difference to the team in the middle overs. His absence is a big miss for the squad. Also, Mukesh Kumar’s absence is also a concern for the team. Yes, he could go for runs but in recent times, he had improved with his variations at the death. Hence, this is also a concern.
3) Ineffective usage of resources
Delhi has somehow not made good use of the domestic resources they have. The likes of Kumar Kushagra have not been used well so far by the management.
Also, Prithvi Shaw was dropped for the first few games but he is one of the best batters in the team right now. The likes of Sumit Kumar have also not been utilized well.
