Mumbai Indians are in serious need of some fresh ideas. After the terrible season that they have had, it is bound that a few members of the support staff will get sacked. Mark Boucher is surely likely to be one of them. Till now, he has not had a visible impact on the playing style of the side. Mumbai Indians could try some homegrown options for this role. Here, we take a look at the list of three Indians whom Mumbai Indians can target as the next Head Coach.
1) Zaheer Khan
It is actually surprising that Mumbai Indians are yet to have Zaheer Khan in a full-fledged coaching role, so far. He did work as a bowling coach before and MI bowlers did well under him.
Now, he has been promoted in the MI Family but Zaheer seems to have the credentials to take on the role of a Head Coach. Since he already knows the team very well, it would be an easy appointment for the franchise.
2) Ravi Shastri
Ravi Shastri is one of the Indians whom Mumbai Indians can target as the next Head Coach. It is hard to convince him but it will be a big coup if MI gets their local man Ravi Shastri onboard.
Although he had to face a lot of criticism, Ravi was good in getting consistent results with Team India. It is this style that could help MI reach the playoffs, something that they have struggled to do in recent seasons.
3) Rahul Dravid (if his tenure with Team India is over)
Rahul Dravid extended his tenure as the Indian Head Coach until the end of the 2024 T20 World Cup. So, it is not sure if he would extend this.
If he does not, a few IPL teams would line him up as a Head Coach. He has the experience to do well as a coach in the Indian Premier League.
