India won the series 4-1 despite the absence of so many senior cricketers. Yes, the debutantes did well but a spot in Team India is still not guaranteed. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three Indians who did well against England but might still be dropped for the next series.
1) Sarfaraz Khan
Yes, it could be a shocking move but it should not be a big surprise if that happens. Even the management has to allow some of the senior stars to get their way back in the side. Sarfaraz, in the first place, only made his debut because the senior players were not available.
Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and even Rishabh Pant could be available. The issues with Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer could also be solved. If all of this happens, Sarfaraz could find it hard to retain his spot in the Indian Team. If he had scored a century, though, the story might have been different.
2) Akash Deep
Akash Deep is one of the Indians who did well against England but might still be dropped for the next series. In the first session of Day 1 of the fourth game, Akash Deep surprised all with his performance. He collected three wickets and made it hard for the English batters.
However, India is likely to have some of the injured options back in the fray. Mukesh Kumar might still be preferred and there could be the influence of some of the IPL performers, as well. Hence, Akash Deep could struggle.
3) Devdutt Padikkal
Devdutt Padikkal had a good start to his Test career. He scored a good fifty in his first innings. Padikkal was also good on the field.
India might be tempted to have a left-handed batting option in the middle order. However, considering Padikkal’s limitations in his technique, he might not find the spot in future games.
