Sometimes, all a player needs is confidence from the management to bring out his best. Yes, the management usually looks at matchups and the strengths of the players but a promotion in the batting order is always a positive sign for the batter. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three Indians who deserve a promotion in the batting order in IPL 2024.
1) Axar Patel – Delhi Capitals
Axar Patel has mostly been used at No.6 or below in his career at Delhi Capitals. However, he is a player whose batting skills have improved a lot in recent times. He has also performer well for DC in crunch situations with the bat.
Considering Axar‘s strength is against the spin bowlers, it would be better for DC to have him at No.5. The likes of Tristan Stubbs or Harry Brook can be used at No.6 to finish the innings. This also fits them as they play pacers better than spinners.
2) Jitesh Sharma – Punjab Kings
Jitesh Sharma is one of the Indians who deserve a promotion in the batting order in IPL 2024. The Vidharba man has mainly operated as a finisher for PBKS.
However, he is someone who has a good game against spin and an improving skill against the pacers. Considering he is in Team India‘s plans, as well, it would be better for him at No.4. Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran to follow him would be the ideal scenario for the side.
3) Nehal Wadhera – Mumbai Indians
Nehal Wadhera had a good debut last season for MI. He could play a lot of games for MI in IPL 2024, as well. Going by the games he has played so far, he appears more comfortable playing the spinners.
Hence, No.5 could be a good choice for him. Hardik Pandya and Tim David are better suited to finish the innings, facing the pacers at the death.
