India will take on Bangladesh in a two-match Test series in September. This will be Gautam Gambhir’s first challenge in the red-ball format. And immediately, we might see him take a few bold decisions. This could also involve handing a debut to some of the youngsters. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three Indians who could make their Test debut in the Bangladesh Test series.
1) R Sai Kishore
If not his debut, R Sai Kishore could be considered for a spot in the Test Team. After his brilliant run in the previous Ranji Trophy season, he deserves a go with the red-ball.
India needs to plan for the future in this department. Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are already there but while Jaddu is in the final stages of his career, Axar is an all-format cricketer. Hence, someone else has to be groomed and Sai seems to be a good choice.
2) Harshit Rana
Harshit Rana is one of the Indians who could make their Test debut in the Bangladesh Test series. The Delhi cricketer seems ready for the highest level. He has already earned a spot in the ODI setup and could be set for a debut in Tests, as well.
Harshit has all the skills needed to excel in Tests. Plus, he can also offer something with the bat at No.8. Gambhir could consider him as an option to replace Shardul Thakur for overseas Tests. Hence, Harshit is on this list.
3) Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep Singh has been doing well for Team India in recent months. For a long time now, India has not had a left-arm pacer in the Test squad. India would need this option for BGT 2024/25.
Arshdeep Singh is the best bet in this regard. He has pace and can move the ball around. His angle could work in the red-ball format. Before he gets on the flight to Australia, he could get a taste of the format against Bangladesh.
