The 2024 T20 World Cup will be key for a few franchises to decide on the players they will release and retain. This holds good for both the Indian and the overseas cricketers. On that note, here, we take a look at three Indians who could be released before IPL 2025 based on their performance in the 2024 T20 WC.

1) Shivam Dube

Even in the second half of IPL 2024, Shivam Dube was poor for CSK. For India, he is getting opportunities but he is not making full use of them.

For CSK, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Matheesha Pathirana will be the priority retentions. If only three retentions are available, CSK might release Shivam Dube.

2) Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh is one of the Indians who could be released before IPL 2025 based on their performance in the 2024 T20 WC. Before the T20 World Cup started, based on his IPL 2024 form, Punjab Kings might not have been very confident in retaining Arshdeep.

However, he has been in good touch and right now, he is playing ahead of Mohammed Siraj in the playing XI. That said, there are still a few games to go. Punjab Kings will be looking at these games and might decide their tactics accordingly.

3) Ravindra Jadeja

With Ravindra Jadeja, it might be more about his choice on whether he would want to continue at CSK. At this stage of his career, he would probably want to captain and side. He might even prefer a new challenge. With MS Dhoni also likely to retire, Jadeja might not be fully motivated to stay at CSK.

CSK, as mentioned earlier, will want Ruturaj Gaikwad and Matheesha Pathirana to stay at the franchise. Ravindra Jadeja will be the third priority and Shivam Dube could also feature here. Now that Jaddu has been very poor in the T20 World Cup, CSK might even release him.
