While we see Indians ply their trade in the County Championship, not often do we see them playing in the One-Day fixtures. Of course, when it comes to the T20 format, active Indian cricketers are not allowed to play. Nevertheless, it is always a good experience playing ODIs outside the country. Here, we take a look at the list of three Indians who are playing in the England One Day Cup 2024.
1) Prithvi Shaw – Northamptonshire
Even last year, Prithvi Shaw played in this tournament. He had a stunning start to his career there. The Mumbai cricketer also scored a double century but an injury halted his charge.
That said, he is back for the same team again in 2024. Shaw’s form has improved in recent years but there is still a lot of scope for development. He will want to make the best use of his chances there.
2) Ajinkya Rahane – Leicestershire
Ajinkya Rahane is one of the Indians who are playing in the England One Day Cup 2024. The veteran Indian cricketer will be a part of the entire competition in England. It needs to be noted that before this, Rahane never played a List A game for a competition not related to India.
A comeback is definitely possible for Rahane in Tests. However, he needs to score a lot of runs both in England and also for Mumbai in the upcoming domestic season. He has started well, though, in England.
3) Venkatesh Iyer – Lancashire
As per reports, it was his KKR teammate Phil Salt who suggested him to play this competition. Now, he has been signed up for the team and would represent them in the England One Day Cup.
Venkatesh is an improved cricketer and he certainly can make a comeback to the Indian setup. He needs to perform well in both departments of the game to impress the likes of Gautam Gambhir and Ajit Agarkar.
