The upcoming IPL 2023 mini-auction is less than 10 days away from getting underway and it is slated to be held in Kochi on December 23. Not long ago, the 10 franchises submitted the list of retained, released and traded players ahead of the auction.

Although they retained top players, they had to take some bold calls by leaving the underperforming players for the betterment of the franchises’ future. Meanwhile, in the latest development, it has been confirmed that as many as 405 cricketers will go under the hammer at the auction.

For the record, ten franchises of the league have shortlisted as many as 369 players from the initial list of 991 players. Meanwhile, 36 extra cricketers were requested by the franchises.

First two sets in the IPL auction 2023 unveiled

Rightly so, those cricketers have been included in the final list. As a result, it makes 405 players in total and these players will go under the hammer at the TATA IPL 2023 Auction. It will be quite interesting to see which teams will bag the right players to suit their philosophy.

For the unversed, out of 405 players, 273 are Indians whereas 132 are said to be foreign cricketers of which four of them hail from associate nations. Moreover, there are as many as 119 capped players and 282 uncapped players and 4 from associate nations.

Meanwhile, the first two sets in IPL 2023 auction have been announced. The first set includes Mayank Agarwal, Harry Brook, Ajinkya Rahane, Joe Root, Rile Rossouw and Kane Williamson.

On the other hand, the second set includes the likes of Sam Curran, Cameron Green, Shakib Al Hasan, Jason Holder, Sikandar Raza, Odean Smith and Ben Stokes.

Gujarat Titans were the champions of the previous edition of the Indian Premier League as they made it all the way to the finals of the competition to beat Rajasthan Royals and it will be interesting to see which team will go on to win the title this time around.
