3 Indian players who could retire from IPL after IPL 2024

Every edition, we see multiple players retiring from the competition. Last season, it was the turn of Ambati Rayudu to retire from the Indian Premier League. In the next edition, as well, fans will have to see some of the legends leave the competition. On that note, here, we take a look at three Indian players who could retire from IPL after IPL 2024.

1) MS Dhoni

Until the retention list dropped, it was not sure if MS Dhoni would play in IPL 2024. However, it was confirmed once CSK announced that he had been retained.

MS Dhoni struggled with his knee last season. There could be some issues in IPL 2024, as well. It would be best if MSD retires on a high. CSK must also need to prepare for the future of the franchise. Therefore, MSD could retire next season.

2) Amit Mishra

Surprising many, Amit Mishra earned a contract from LSG at IPL 2023 Auctions. Using the Impact Player rule, LSG made good use of the veteran, who is one of the highest wicket-takers in the league. LSG has retained the cricketer and Amit could have a role to play in IPL 2024.

However, it could be the end of his road in the competition after next season. More young players are coming through and they deserve a chance ahead of Amit Mishra.

3) Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan is one of the Indian players who could retire from IPL after IPL 2024. When it comes to age, Shikhar is not as old as Amit or MSD. However, Shikhar could also retire next season.

Even in IPL 2023, he had some fitness issues. PBKS might need a younger captain for the future. Since the returns from Dhawan’s bat were diminishing, there are concerns regarding his presence. He is also someone who understands the future needs of the franchise, and hence, he might make way.
