3 Indian batters who must develop their bowling skills after the 2023 ODI World Cup

India will not have a single right-arm off-spinner in the 2023 ODI World Cup. This is a serious hole and the repercussions could be huge. The management must focus on balance in the future squads. For this, some of the batters must practice their bowling skills. It may not be an entirely new task for them as some of these cricketers have bowled quite often in domestic cricket. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three Indian batters who must develop their bowling skills soon.

1) Shreyas Iyer (Right-arm leg-break)

Not just for Mumbai in domestic cricket, Iyer has also rolled his arm over for Team India. That definitely means he is not new to bowling. He should focus more on this in the future, especially if he has to contribute further to the Indian Team.

Having a part-time leggie can be useful for the team. Especially with Iyer set to seal a spot in the middle-order for the future, him adding one more skill could become a necessity.

2) Suryakumar Yadav (Right-arm off-break)

Suryakumar Yadav is one of the Indian batters who must develop their bowling skills soon. Even SKY has bowled often in domestic cricket. In fact, he has also done the job in the IPL.

While he is one of the first names on the team list in T20Is, it is not the same in ODIs. In T20Is, as well, India would be helped by having some extra spin options. In this regard, SKY should start bowling more in the nets in the future.

3) Tilak Varma (Right-arm off-break)

Compared to the above two, Tilak is more established with the ball. However, he is not bowling very often in recent months. Considering he is just starting out, Tilak must soon try to become a batting all-rounder.

While it helps Team India, Tilak’s case would also be bettered if he has more than one skill to offer. Hence, the Hyderabad man is on this list.
