In the past, we have seen many IPL teams attract top individuals across the globe. Recently, Mark Boucher left the South African National Team to become the coach of Mumbai Indians. Along similar lines, we could see a few appointments in the next few years. While the nations would want a new person at the helm, these coaches could need a new challenge. On that note, here, we take a look at three Head Coaches in the 2023 ODI World Cup who could become a IPL Head Coach in a few years.
1) Rahul Dravid
Rahul Dravid has already been an IPL Head Coach before. Hence, it is possible that he might return to a similar role, although he was not that successful in his first stint.
If India does not win the 2023 ODI World Cup, India might look for a replacement. Even if India wins, Rahul Dravid’s extension might just be for a year. Hence, his future after that could be in the IPL.
2) Gary Stead
Gary Stead is one of the Head Coaches in the 2023 ODI World Cup who could become an IPL Head Coach in a few years. The 51-year-old has achieved a lot for the Kiwis. In July earlier this year, he earned a contract extension for two years.
Having impressed at the highest level, a few teams could be interested in the services of Gary Stead. While his experience would be useful, his player management and tactical skills would bring some change to the setup.
3) Andrew McDonald
Currently, he is the Head Coach of Australia. However, if the team does not do well in the next few years, he might have to step down.
In that regard, Andrew McDonald, who has previously been a coach in IPL, can search for a career in the competition. Considering his experience, a few teams could be interested in IPL.
