Usually, players do not have a second stint at CSK. The likes of Shardul Thakur are a rare exception. It could happen with a few more players in the coming years. Here, we take a look at the list of three former cricketers CSK could realistically target in IPL 2025 Auctions.

1) R Ashwin
R Ashwin may not feature in more than two years in the IPL. Yet, his fitness is top-notch and so are his performances. There is no reason why CSK must not sign the player, who was once a vital part of the spin attack.
Anyways, CSK needs a right-arm off-spinner to add variety to the spin attack. With his current form, Ashwin is adequate. Since he also comes up with some fine cameos with the bat, he further provides balance to the playing XI.
2) R Sai Kishore
R Sai Kishore is one of the former cricketers CSK could realistically target in IPL 2025 Auctions. The Tamil Nadu spinner spent a while a CSK without getting a single game. Even at Gujarat Titans, despite his consistency, game time has been hard for the player.
With Ravindra Jadeja probably in the final cyle of his IPL career, it would be ideal to groom his replacement. Sai ticks all the boxes, although he must improve further with the bat. Considering he hails from Tamil Nadu, the local fans will also be pleased with his presence.
3) Josh Hazlewood
Not many expected Josh Hazlewood to find success in IPL. However, at CSK, he was a different beast and was directly responsible for the franchise winning the title.
Now, CSK has Matheesha Pathirana as the lead overseas pacer. Either as his partner or as his backup, Josh will be the ideal candidate. With his experience, he further adds value to the team, especially to the younger pacers.
