Dwayne Bravo joined KKR as a Mentor. Hence, the bowling coach position is vacant at CSK. It is a big gap to fill for the franchise. Bravo had been doing well in the role. Here, we take a look at the list of three former cricketers CSK can appoint as the next bowling coach.
1) L Balaji
Of course, CSK can go back to their tried and tested option of L Balaji. A local coach, he has served at CSK in the same role for many seasons before.
It is time for CSK to focus on young Indian pacers, preferably from Tamil Nadu, as well. Now, the homegrown fans want such players from the state. L Balaji could help with that and he can also devise good bowling strategies for the side.
2) Albie Morkel
Albie Morkel is one of the former cricketers CSK can appoint as the next bowling coach. While his brother Morne Morkel is the bowling coach of Team India, Albie has roles in the backroom staff at other franchises owned by the CSK owners.
He was an intelligent bowler in the IPL and picked wickets in crucial situations. A wily customer, his brilliance and knowledge of the T20 format will be an asset. CSK needs to develop utility players like him and having Albie in the backroom could help.
3) Makhaya Ntini
The former South African pacer was for a brief period at CSK. He did not play much of IPL again. Nevertheless, he could still be a good option for CSK to consider.
He does have a fair bit of experience as a bowling coach. He did a role at Zimbabwe but that ended abruptly. Considering his experience, his guidance could help the younger bowlers.
