Faf du Plessis is yet to announce his retirement. However, considering there is a Mega Auction, it is unlikely that RCB will retain the 39-year-old cricketer. RCB will have to search for a new skipper and they might target a foreign option. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three foreigners RCB might target as the next captain.
1) Mitchell Marsh
Mitchell Marsh is yet to get a lot of experience as a captain. However, if the Australian management has identified the skill in him, he is likely to be good. If he can avoid his fitness issues, he will be a great fit for RCB going forward.
Mitchell Marsh will directly take Faf’s place as the opener alongside Virat Kohli. The Aussie also adds value with the ball, which would further help the side on a few occasions.
2) Ben Stokes
Ben Stokes is one of the foreigners RCB might target as the next captain. Stokes does not have a long-term contract with England for now. Hence, it will not be a surprise if he places his focus on T20 leagues from 2025.
Hence, IPL teams can target Stokes as a captaincy option. Even as a pure batter, he adds value to the side. With his experience as a captain, although in a different format, the team would do well. RCB likes big names and Ben Stokes is certainly a top candidate.
3) Aiden Markram
Not many had Faf du Plessis on the list when RCB was looking for a skipper. However, in the end, it was a decent move and helped RCB be consistent. Now, Aiden Markram is a similar type of character and would be a decent pick to lead the side.
Markram also has captaincy experience in the SA20 League and also in the IPL. Therefore, he would be an interesting option to lead RCB in the future.
