Depending on the retention rules, CSK might get back Devon Conway or not. If they cannot have him, they could instead target a wicket-keeper who could be the opening partner for Ruturaj Gaikwad. CSK could also target a keeper who could fit in at other areas of the squad. CSK has never had a problem with the wicket-keeping slot. However, if MS Dhoni retires, it would be a big issue for them. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three foreign wicket-keepers CSK could target in IPL 2025 Auctions.
1) Quinton de Kock
His recent form may not be a big positive for the teams that will target him. However, at CSK, he gets to be in an environment that ensures success for players at this stage of their careers.
QDK might like to join CSK. For the franchise, they would prefer a left-handed opener who can take on the pacers. Hence, QDK fits the bill.
2) Glenn Phillips
Glenn Phillips is one of the foreign wicket-keepers CSK could target in IPL 2025 Auctions. It is a shame that he did not get to play a single game in IPL 2024.
Nevertheless, there would be demand for him at the IPL 2025 Auctions if he is released by SRH. CSK could target him as the finisher and the keeper. If CSK can also get a domestic keeper, as well, they could use Phillips as a spinner in Chennai.
3) Jonny Bairstow
Bairstow could come cheap for teams in the IPL 2025 Auctions. This has to do with his recent form, which has not been great.
He could find it hard to do well in Chennai. However, if used as an opener, in a dressing room like that in CSK, Jonny could find his touch. If he gets going, it is hard to stop the Englishman.
