Chennai Super Kings will now have an eye on their future. Firstly, they must get a solid middle-order batter, who is reliable across conditions and situations. 1) Aiden Markram
Aiden Markram is likely to be released by SRH after the end of IPL 2024. Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen are undroppable and they will be retained even if there is a mega auction.
Markram is a solid candidate and he is someone who needs proper role-clarity. He would be the ideal person to have at No.3 for CSK, considering the long-term future of the franchise, as well.
2) Kane Williamson
Kane Williamson is one of the foreign middle-order batters CSK must target in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. It might be experience that is needed at No.3 for CSK. For this, they could target Kane Williamson.
Kane has been having a few rough years in the IPL. However, he is a class player and will come good if he plays a run of games at a specified slot. If CSK can give him the No.3 slot, he is sure to come good. Also, with MS Dhoni likely to retire, Kane’s experience as a skipper will help Ruturaj Gaikwad.
3) Glenn Phillips
The Kiwi cricketer has not had a single outing, so far, in IPL 2024. For a player of his skills, it is very surprising. Nevertheless, he is sure to command a lot of attention in the coming seasons.
If MS Dhoni retires, CSK would need a good wicket-keeper batter, preferably someone who can don the role of a finisher. Phillips fits the job perfectly. His Kiwi connection could also help him land a CSK contract.
