3 drastic changes in CSK’s IPL 2024 strategies compared to the other seasons

Chennai Super Kings have been inconsistent in IPL 2024. Whenever the team is off to a good start, CSK usually consolidates its position at the top of the table. However, this time around, they are losing their way often. It could be down to some of their tactics, which deviate a lot compared to their previous seasons. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three drastic changes in CSK’s IPL 2024 strategies compared to the other seasons.

1) Frequent changes in the playing XI

Around the time when this season started, CSK had just used around 100 players in the last 16 editions of the IPL. That shows that the franchise hardly made changes to their playing XI and backed their players till they came good.

However, it has been different in IPL 2024. While some changes have been forced, there are form-related changes in the playing XI, as well. This is not giving a settled feeling to the franchise.

2) No settled spin attack

No settled spin attack is one of the drastic changes in CSK’s IPL 2024 strategies compared to the other seasons. Earlier, CSK was adamant about having a solid spin attack. However, this time, barring Ravindra Jadeja, no one else is permanent in the spin attack.

One of the biggest strengths of CSK, especially at home, is their spin attack. However, they have been poor in this regard in the ongoing edition. This is playing a big role in the bowling performances of the team.

3) No specific strategies for the powerplay

Powerplay earlier used to be the strength for CSK. With the bat, last season, Devon Conway was brilliant while with the ball, some bowlers used to step up.

In IPL 2024, though, CSK appear to be sticking with a strategy of going with the flow. They are highly passive during this phase. Form of some players is also a reason.
