Off-late, we are seeing a lot of Indian cricketers taking up a coaching role soon after retirement. Dinesh Karthik became a batting coach in just the next season after retirement. Gautam Gambhir will be the India Head Coach within just 3 to 4 years from his retirement. Hence, we could see some more Indian cricketers become coaches soon after retirement. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three current Indian cricketers who could become a Head Coach in the future.
1) R Ashwin
It is inevitable that R Ashwin will take up a coaching role in the future. Just as a spin-bowling coach itself, he will have lots to offer.
Then, as a Head Coach, he would be keen to bring many of his unique ideas on the field. In just his short stint as a captain, he had many fresh approaches. It would be exciting to see him as a Head Coach.
2) Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma is one of the best captains that Team India has seen. At the IPL, he has five trophies to his name and is known to be a highly tactical man. Considering his stature, it would not be a surprise if he takes up a coaching role in the future.
Rohit is someone who keeps the dressing environment in good spirits. He could be a good player-manager. Tactically, as well, he has the experience to do well for any team that he coaches or captains.
3) Jaydev Unadkat
Jaydev Unadkat is one of the current Indian cricketers who could become a Head Coach in the future. At the domestic level, he has been a shrewd captain and has helped Saurashtra win a few trophies.
He seems to have a good judgment of the game and also has experience in all the formats of the game. He could start his coaching career from the Ranji Trophy itself.
