BCCI recently announced the India A squad that will tour Australia. India A’s last big tournament was the tour of South Africa. Interestingly, a few players who played in that team have now been dropped. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three cricketers who played for India A in South Africa in 2023 but are dropped for the squad touring Australia.
India A squad for the tour of Australia: Ruturaj Gaikwad (C), Abhimanyu Easwaran (VC), Sai Sudharsan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Devdutt Padikkal, Ricky Bhui, Baba Indrajith, Ishan Kishan (WK), Abishek Porel (WK), Mukesh Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Yash Dayal, Navdeep Saini, Manav Suthar, Tanush Kotian
Note: We have not considered players who are likely to be selected for the Indian Team and also the injured currently.
1) Pradosh Ranjan Paul
The Tamil Nadu man actually did well in South Africa. Hence, it is a bit surprising that he does not feature on this squad.
In fact, he has also started this Ranji Trophy on a good note. Nevertheless, he is young and chances will come his way soon.
2) KS Bharat
KS Bharat is one of the cricketers who played for India A in South Africa in 2023 but are dropped for the squad touring Australia. It appears that his journey with Team India has hit a roadblock. A fantastic keeper, Bharat just could not do well with the bat.
With him missing a spot in the India A squad, Bharat would need a few more solid Ranji seasons to make a comeback. The likes of Ishan Kishan and Abishek Porel are ahead of him now.
3) Sourabh Kumar
Even before Axar Patel made his Test debut, Sourabh was selected for Team India. However, the left-arm spinner could not make his debut.
In South Africa, he was not bad. However, it appears that India is now convinced with the talent of Manav Suthar and is trusting him.
