Being a coach in the IPL has its own advantages when compared to coaching the national side. In the IPL, you are occupied only for two months although there could be discussions throughout the year. However, with the national team, you might have to travel throughout the year while also having touch with the grassroots. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three coaches who left an IPL job to become an India coach.

1) Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir is the latest to join this list. After helping KKR win the title in IPL 2024 as the Mentor, Gautam Gambhir could have stayed in his role for a lot more years.

However, the India Head Coach position was vacant and Gautam was one of the front-runners. It will be interesting to see how he does in the coming years.

2) Bharat Arun

Bharat Arun is one of the coaches who left an IPL job to become an India coach. He is one of the best bowling coaches to have been with Team India. It was under him that India managed to win a couple of tough overseas Test tournaments. The likes of Siraj all grew as a bowler under him.

Before his stint with Team India, he was the bowling coach of RCB. He had to leave RCB to come and join the Indian Team. Hence, he is also a part of this list.

3) R Sridhar

Back in 2014, Kings XI Punjab had Sridhar as the fielding coach. IPL 2014 was the best season for Kings XI Punjab in their history. The team reached the finals for the very first time and the top fielding also had an impact.
