Pakistan had Grant Bradburn onboard as the Head Coach a few weeks before the World Cup. Mickey Arthur was given the role of the director. 1) Tom Moody
The strength of Pakistan is their bowling. However, this very strength has not stepped up in the 2023 ODI World Cup. This is a big area of concern for the management.
Tom Moody is a brilliant constructor of bowling attacks. He is also great in other areas of coaching. As an individual, too, he commands respect and is very vocal about his thoughts. He might just be the right option for Pakistan.
2) Jonathan Trott
Jonathan Trott is one of the candidates Pakistan must target as the new Head Coach after the 2023 ODI World Cup. Trott would surely look to elevate his coaching career after his success with Afghanistan.
Pakistan is struggling and this might be a good challenge for Trott to help the side prepare well for the 2024 T20 World Cup. With this stint in his resume, Trott can grow further in stature if he finds success coaching Babar Azam and Co.
3) Misbah-ul-Haq
Under Misbah, Pakistan enjoyed a good run. It would be a good option to have a local former cricketer do the job for Pakistan.
Misbah had set aside some rules when he was the Head Coach of the side. One of them was to ensure the good fitness of the cricketers. It seems Pakistan does not follow this rule now. Misbah is also tactically good. All these factors plus the motivation of a local man should help Pakistan. However, all the controversies must be crossed for this to happen.
