Gautam Gambhir has announced that he has parted ways with Lucknow Super Giants before IPL 2024. Gambhir would now be going to Kolkata Knight Riders to become the new Mentor of the team. LSG, with a new Head Coach in the form of Justin Langer, would look to appoint a new Mentor. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three candidates LSG can appoint as the new Mentor for IPL 2024.
1) Ajay Jadeja
Ajay Jadeja is one of the candidates LSG can appoint as the new Mentor for IPL 2024. The former India cricketer did a wonderful job as the Mentor of Afghanistan in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
He is someone who has not been in IPL before. Hence, LSG would get a fresh perspective from a former cricketer, who has shown his skills in this role recently.
2) Suresh Raina
Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, it is high time that LSG need to get Suresh Raina onboard to increase the fanbase. Raina is a top T20 cricketer and has excellent experience playing and winning trophies in the Indian Premier League.
He would be an ideal candidate to replace a popular name like Gautam. Raina would gain instant respect from the team and his keen eye for talent would also help LSG going forward.
3) Shane Watson
With Justin Langer at the helm, we can see some Aussies getting appointed to the outfit. Shane Watson could be one of them and could be a good one.
Watto was an assistant coach at Delhi Capitals. A legend in the IPL, Watson has plenty of IPL seasons before. He has also shown his tactical skills whenever he is commentating. The Australian all-rounder is aware of the latest trends in T20 cricket and therefore, he would make for a good appointment. Therefore, he is also on this list.
