Gautam Gambhir could be the next Head Coach of Team India. He will bring in a different philosophy to the team and maybe a structure, as well. It is important to have an assistant coach to add more value in the backroom. On that note, here, we take a look at three candidates Gautam Gambhir might appoint as assistant coach if he becomes India’s Head Coach.
1) Abhishek Nayar
The former Mumbai all-rounder has been associated with KKR for a long time now. However, he would want to take his career to the next level and become an assistant coach at Team India.
Many players have expressed that Nayar has brought a positive change in their careers. Hence, BCCI could be hopeful of this happening for the Indian Team, as well.
2) Vijay Dahiya
Vijay Dahiya is one of the candidates Gautam Gambhir might appoint as assistant coach if he becomes India’s Head Coach. For a while now, Vijay has been strongly associated with Gautam Gambhir. Right from Gauti’s time as a player in the IPL till his stint at LSG, the duo has worked together. After Gambhir left LSG, even Vijay left LSG.
Gauti could be comfortable with Vijay and they might share the same cricketing philosophy. Hence, Gambhir could add Vijay to his support staff.
3) Ryan ten Doeschate
Ryan ten Doeschate has also enjoyed a long association with Gautam Gambhir. Yes, Ryan does have a role outside the IPL but becoming a part of the support staff of the Indian Team will be a big move if it comes his way.
It is important to have a foreign influence on the setup. This will give a different perspective and could help a few players in getting used to some of the foreign conditions. Therefore, the former Dutch player is on this list.
