India is one of the best T20 squads at the moment. That was proved with the victory in the recent T20 World Cup. However, there is always scope for improvement. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three areas India can further improve in the T20I squad after the 2024 T20 World Cup.
1) Range hitting in the lower middle-order
India has excellent range-hitters at No.3 and No.4 in the form of Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav. However, coming lower in the order, India does not have great skills in this regard.
In the past, someone like Dinesh Karthik did well in this aspect. India might have to work on a new player who can do the job or improve the skills of the finishers. This can be very important in the coming years, especially in the 2026 T20 World Cup.
2) An additional bowling option in the Top 4
Bowling depth is one of the areas India can further improve in the T20I squad after the 2024 T20 World Cup. The likes of Aiden Markram and Glenn Maxwell offer great balance to the side with their right-arm off-spin.
This type of bowling is very useful in matchups but during the regular proceedings, they may not be very helpful. Hence, it is better to have a batter who can come in and chip in an over or two when there are left-handers at the crease. Someone like Tilak Varma can be helpful here.
3) The No.5 role
Shivam Dube could not do his best in the middle-order for India. Nevertheless, he produced a fine cameo in the finals which helped the Indian squad.
While Dube can be trusted, India must start grooming a new No.5 option, as well. That player must be good against both pacers and spinners and should be able to bowl some spin. Riyan Parag can be a choice here.
