When Gujarat Titans signed Rahul Tewatia for INR 9 Cr at the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions, many were not happy with the move. Yes, Rahul is capable of some quickfire cameos but to provide INR 9 Cr on a domestic uncapped player was a debatable move. However, Rahul has been brilliant for GT in this regard. Every time he has got a chance, Rahul has done well for them. There were few other teams who were interested in signing the cricketer. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two teams that bid for Rahul Tewatia in IPL 2022 Mega Auctions before Gujarat Titans signed him.

1) Chennai Super Kings

It was CSK that stayed with GT till the very end until the Chennai-based franchise bowed out at the end. Chennai Super Kings were looking at left-handed batters who could deal with spinners well and also had the ability to finish games well.

Rahul Tewatia also offered leg-spin, an aspect even Gujarat Titans have not used much till now. If there is a mega-auction before IPL 2025, it would not be a surprise if CSK targets him again.

2) Royal Challengers Bengaluru

RCB is one of the teams that bid for Rahul Tewatia in IPL 2022 Mega Auctions before GT signed him. At one point in the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions, RCB was desperate for a left-handed middle-order batter. Their batting attack was too right-handed and to change things up, they needed someone for this role.

Also, Wanindu Hasaranga was the only leg-spinner at that time and hence, they wanted someone for this role, as well. Therefore, the team targeted Rahul Tewatia. The team was in the fray for the first few bids before CSK replaced them in the bidding war. Eventually, RCB signed Mahipal Lomror as the left-hander in the middle-order and Karn Sharma as the Indian leg-spinner.
