While we have seen members from the same family in men’s cricket, there are very few examples of a family representation in both the men’s and the women’s games. That said, interestingly, we do have some examples ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two relations of female international cricketers who will play in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
1) Babette de Leede – Bas de Leede (Cousin)
Babette de Leede is an international cricketer who has played both ODIs and T20Is for the Netherlands. It was way back in 2018 that she made his T20I debut for the nation. She is a wicket-keeper batter.
Bas de Leede, who is Babette’s cousin, is a well-known name in the cricket circles. Son of Tim de Leede, Bas was one of the main reasons why the Netherlands qualified for the 2023 ODI World Cup. He was in top form during the qualifiers and this helped the side win the crucial games. An all-rounder, if Bas does have a good outing, it won’t be a surprise if we see him in the IPL next year.
2) Alyssa Healy – Mitchell Starc (Husband)
Alyssa Healy is one of the relations of female international cricketers who will play in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Well, this pair is one of the most popular examples for this case. Both are serial winners and playing in probably his last ODI World Cup, Starc would like to make it a memorable campaign.
Starc has been hot and cold in recent years. However, in 2023, he has been in great form. This is a good sign for the Aussies, who would want Starc to rediscover his World Cup form. If he does well like he did in the previous editions, Australia will be on course to add another trophy to the cabinet.
