There are still a few months to go before the end of 2024. Already, the year has seen some popular names step aside from at least one format. The likes of Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit Sharma, David Warner and Trent Boult have all announced retirement fully or at least from one format. Amidst these names, there were a few other popular cricketers who announced their retirement. However, these decisions did not make much noise. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two players you might not know who announced retirement in 2024.

1) Heinrich Klaasen – Test Cricket

Heinrich Klaasen announced his retirement from Tests early this year. Still, near 30, he had the age to do well in this format. However, considering the form that he is enjoying in the T20 and the ODI formats, it would be better for him to focus on just the white-ball formats.

Anyways, Klaasen would not have been a suitable long-term option for South Africa in Tests. Rather, the team would need him in the other formats. Hence, it makes sense for Klaasen to take this decision.

2) Colin Munro – International Cricket

Colin Munro is one of the players you might not know who announced retirement in 2024. The New Zealand player had a strong start to his international career. He was known as one of the best T20 batters back then. However, the former opener lost form and hence, he had to be dropped.

That said, in quite a few T20 leagues, he has been doing well. Now, he bats in the middle-order and is also a captaincy choice. Considering his form, he expected to feature in the Kiwi squad. However, after he was not selected, he decided to retire from all forms of the game. He will now focus more on his T20 assignments.
