Almost every team is having an injury issue before the upcoming World Cup. For the Kiwis, it is about Tim Southee, who is the most experienced pacer in the team. His role would be immense for the setup. However, unfortunately, a thumb injury could rule him out of the event. The news, though, is not confirmed. On that note, here, we take a look at two players who could replace Tim Southee if he gets ruled out of the 2023 ODI World Cup.

1) Adam Milne

Adam Milne was one of the surprising names to not make it to the New Zealand World Cup squad. The Kiwi pacer is inconsistent but he has the skills to change games on his day. Hence, it was surprising to see him miss out, especially because he has played quite a lot in India before.

If Southee gets ruled out, he would surely be one of the primary options. His pace and hit-the-deck ability will be helpful for the Kiwis across some of the venues in India. Therefore, he is on this list.

2) Kyle Jamieson

Kyle Jamieson is one of the players who could replace Tim Southee if he gets ruled out of the 2023 ODI World Cup. After returning from injury, Kyle Jamieson is slowly making progress by featuring in some of the white-ball games. He might, as well, replace Southee if the situation arises.

More than Milne, Jamieson would be a better like-to-like replacement for Southee. He can offer swing in the powerplay and his combination with Trent Boult could be a dangerous one. Also, Jamieson is good with the bat. In Indian conditions, depth in the batting line-up is a must. The Kiwis can boast in this regard if they have Jamieson. On his day, he can take the game away from the opposition even with the willow.
