Mayank Yadav is in stunning form at the moment. His attributes are very rare for any bowler from India. Hence, it would not be a surprise if the selectors picked him for the upcoming World Cup. If that happens, one unlucky player has to miss out on the mega event. This player would have been in the plans till now. Hence, it would be unfortunate for him. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two players who could miss out if Mayank Yadav gets selected for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
1) Washington Sundar
At the moment, India would have considered taking three pacers along with Hardik Pandya for the 2024 T20 World Cup. However, seeing the current form of Mayank Yadav, the management might consider selecting the player for the event. Therefore, one player from the original plan will miss out.
In that case, India might have to select one less spinner. Kuldeep Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi are surely in the squad while Ravindra Jadeja or Axar Patel could come in as the all-rounder. Since Washi’s IPL 2024 is not going well, he might not be on the flight to the USA.
2) Avesh Khan
Avesh Khan is one of the players who could miss out if Mayank Yadav gets selected for the 2024 T20 World Cup. If India was considering an extra pacer in the team, Avesh Khan would have been the choice. He played recently against Afghanistan and is one of the very few choices as an enforcer, especially after Mohammed Shami got ruled out.
Now, Mayank Yadav is in better form and his pace is troubling the foreign batters. Hence, although even Avesh is doing well, he might not get a chance. Instead, Mayank could get a spot in the Indian Team and might be preferred in the playing XI, as well.
