As per reports, the England players will not be available for the IPL 2024 playoffs. They will be a part of the England T20I Team for a series against Pakistan. It would be hard for IPL to convince the ECB to release the cricketers, considering there is not much time for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Rajasthan Royals are all set to reach the playoffs but they will miss the services of Jos Buttler. On that note, here, we take a look at two players who can replace Jos Buttler as the opener in the playing XI for the IPL 2024 playoffs.
1) Donovan Ferreira
Donovan Ferreira is one of the players who can replace Jos Buttler as the opener in the playing XI for the IPL 2024 playoffs. He has been with Rajasthan Royals for a while now but is yet to make his debut for them. However, the South African cricketer will have a good chance if Buttler is not there.
Ferreira is someone who might be preferred in the middle order but he might be backed as an opener, as well. Since he is also capable of producing a few overs with the ball, he could be the man for RR.
2) Tom Kohler-Cadmore
Tom Kohler-Cadmore is not a part of the England Team for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Rajasthan Royals had specifically signed the English cricketer for this purpose alone. His role was going to be in the squad as the backup for Jos Buttler.
The top-order batter has done well in various T20 leagues. Since he mostly plays in the top-order, he has a better chance of replacing Buttler at RR. He is also an exciting cricketer and if he gets going, he can entertain the fans just like how his fellow countrymen Will Jacks and Phil Salt have been doing.
