India‘s squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup has been picked. The core of the squad is intact. However, there were some notable exclusions and some interesting selections. All these decisions would be debated during the World Cup. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two Indians who could consider themselves lucky to get a spot in the 2024 T20 World Cup squad.

1) Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant returned to competitive cricket after a long time in IPL 2024. However, he has not shown any signs of rustiness. In the ongoing edition, he has also led the team well and been good behind the stumps, as well.

However, playing at the international level is a different challenge. Pant has done that before but coming after such a long break can be hard for him. Moreover, in the T20I format, he has not had an impressive record. On the other hand, the likes of KL Rahul and Jitesh Sharma have played for India recently. In this regard, Pant is a bit lucky. India anyways had good left-handed middle-order batters and Pant may not have got a chance only for this attribute. Therefore, it is a bit fortunate for him that he could find a place in the squad.

2) Axar Patel

Ravindra Jadeja was never going to get dropped because of his experience and bowling prowess. Yes, there is more expected from his bat but even Axar is not at his peak with the bat in IPL 2024. In this regard, Axar’s selection is a bit lucky considering India already had two other spinners.

India could have instead tried someone like Rinku Singh in Axar Patel’s place. It would have given one more option to the team in the batting department while also providing Jadeja with the confidence that he would be backed for the entire tournament.
