Royal Challengers Bangalore did not have a great outing in the IPL 2024 Auctions. The team had the sole agenda of improving the bowling attack. For that, they even had sufficient funds. However, some of the targets that RCB chose were not exactly great. On the other hand, RCB invested more in foreigners than Indians. Had they gone a bit higher for the Indians, the core would have improved further. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two Indians RCB targeted in IPL 2024 Auctions but could not sign.
1) M Siddharth
M Siddharth is one of the Indians RCB targeted in IPL 2024 Auctions but could not sign. RCB has one of the weakest spin attacks in the competition. Karn Sharma, Himanshu Sharma and Mayank Dagar are the lead spinners while there is no one reliable foreign spinner. Hence, the franchise had to focus on this department.
M Siddharth from Tamil Nadu is someone who has been doing well for a while now. Be it in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy or in the Tamil Nadu Premier League, his performances have been impressive. He can bowl in the powerplay and RCB would have liked such a cricketer. However, LSG was also interested in him and hence, RCB could not land him.
2) Shivam Mavi
After the departure of Josh Hazlewood, RCB needed someone who could share the new ball with Mohammed Siraj. An Indian bowler would have been preferred and hence, RCB was interested in Shivam Mavi. He would have also added some batting depth to the side.
On the other hand, LSG also needed a new-ball bowler who could replace Avesh Khan. Therefore, they were desperate for the youngster. They eventually signed him. Mavi would now open the bowling with Mohsin Khan or Mark Wood for LSG in IPL 2024.
