Gujarat Titans had the best purse going into the IPL 2024 Auctions. Having lost Hardik Pandya, the team was required to make a few signings to balance the squad such that they would negate the absence of Hardik. Hence, they went behind multiple Indian players. In the pace department, they signed Umesh Yadav, Kartik Tyagi and Sushant Mishra. They also had a couple of other targets but could not sign them. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two Indian pacers Gujarat Titans tried to sign in IPL 2024 Auctions but could not.
1) Harshal Patel
Harshal Patel had an average outing in IPL 2023 and hence, he was released by RCB. Hence, it was expected that he would not fetch a big bid at the auctions. However, it is difficult to understand the auction dynamics and Harshal went for a sum higher than his previous salary to Punjab Kings.
GT was also interested in the services of Harshal Patel. The team already has Mohit Sharma, who is an expert at the death. However, teams would have now analysed him and hence, GT would have needed an extra reliable option in the death overs. Therefore, it made sense that Harshal was one of the targets for GT.
2) Yash Dayal
Yash Dayal is one of the Indian pacers Gujarat Titans tried to sign in IPL 2024 Auctions but could not. Interestingly, GT was ready to pay Yash more than the amount they had used to pay his salary in the previous edition.
Not many left-arm seamers were left in the market. GT needed one to have this option on the roster. Hence, they were desperate for Yash, who had been decent for them. However, even RCB also wanted a good domestic pacer. Hence, GT could not sign the talented pacer from Uttar Pradesh.
