2 former ICL players who became a fielding coach in the IPL

Before the Indian Premier League, the Indian Cricket League existed. The ICL had the concept of domestic and foreign players operating in a single-playing XI in the T20 format. The tournament did have an initial success but could not hold to its success. IPL was introduced by the BCCI and the ICL was no longer recognized. Players who were a part of the ICL initially did not qualify for the IPL. However, later, BCCI allowed them to be a part of the league. A few have now become a coach, as well. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two former ICL players who became a fielding coach in the IPL.

1) Hemang Badani

Hemang Badani was a part of the Chennai Superstars side in the Indian Cricket League. After the BCCI lifted the ban on the ICL players, the Tamil Nadu cricketer was picked up by the Chennai Super Kings. However, he did not get a single game. Later on, Hemang donned the role of a coach after retirement.

It came to the limelight after his success in the Tamil Nadu Premier League. Hence, he got a gig in the SRH setup as a fielding coach. Recently, the former India cricketer also became a Head Coach in a high-profile T20 League by coaching the Dubai Capitals in the ILT20.

2) Dishant Yagnik

Dishant Yagnik is one of the former ICL players who became a fielding coach in the IPL. The wicket-keeper batter was a part of the Indian Cricket League and also played a few matches for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.

Later, Dishant got a chance to work as a coach at RR. He was appointed as the fielding coach. Even now, the former Ranji cricketer is a part of the setup as the fielding coach. Along with this, he also plays in a few T20 leagues reserved for the retired cricketers.
