2 changes New Zealand might make for their next game against Australia

New Zealand had to taste their first defeat of the 2023 ODI World Cup campaign on Sunday. India was too good for the Kiwis on the day. The team might make some changes before their next game against the Aussies on Saturday. It will be an important game for both sides if they have to reach the semis comfortably. On that note, here, we take a look at two changes New Zealand might make for their next game against Australia.

1) Jimmy Neesham for Mark Chapman

Mark Chapman has got quite a few chances at No.7. However, he has been inconsistent. Surprisingly, the former Hong Kong player is also not being used with the ball. Hence, it makes sense to have Neesham in the XI.

The medium-pace bowling all-rounder is a veteran. He has plenty of experience and on his day, he can easily come good. Moreover, with the ball, he can consistently offer a few overs. This will further help the balance of the side. Now is the right time for the Kiwis to experiment with this change. It might get difficult to force a move in the later stages.

2) Tim Southee for Lockie Ferguson

Tim Southee for Lockie Ferguson is one of the changes New Zealand might make for their next game against Australia. There were reports that Southee would be fit against India. However, that did not happen. It is likely that he can bowl full tilt again from the Australia game.

While Lockie Ferguson has picked wickets, he has been costly. Anyways, Tim Southee was taking a place in the XI if he was fit. Hence, it might have to be Lockie who will have to miss out. Considering the game is at Dharamshala, Southee’s presence with the new ball will be helpful for the Kiwis. Hence, this change is also on the list.
