It was a disappointing defeat for Team India in the first Test match against South Africa. India was expected to make South Africa bat in the second inning. However, it was an innings defeat for the visitors. Some strong decisions could be taken before the next game. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two changes India might make for the next Test against South Africa.
1) Ravindra Jadeja for R Ashwin
It was due to a back spasm that R Jadeja had to miss the first game. He is anyway the first-choice spinner for overseas games. If he is fit, there is no doubt that he would take Ashwin‘s place at No.7.
Although Ashwin bowled well, he was just not penetrative enough. With the bat, too, he might just not be suited for a No.7 role. Jadeja is surely a better idea as the all-rounder and he has performed well in such conditions in the past. Hence, it is a no-brainer for the management.
2) Mukesh Kumar for Prasidh Krishna
Mukesh Kumar for Prasidh Krishna is one of the changes India might make for the next Test against South Africa. Prasidh Krishna had a difficult debut at Centurion. He struggled to make an impact and was also not able to control the leaking of the runs.
While it might be harsh to drop him after just one game, India must take some difficult decisions. Mukesh Kumar is the other pacer in the squad. He can be a decent choice as the third-choice pacer for the Indian Team. While India might miss out on the hit-the-deck skills of Prasidh, in Mukesh, the management would get a bowler who can do a lot of things with the seam. This might just be needed considering the good batting form of South Africa.
