2 changes India could make for the second ODI against Australia despite the win

India won the first ODI against Australia with easy. There was a minor hiccup in the chase but with the experience of KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav at the crease, it was always going to end positively. For the 3rd ODI, India will be forced to make some changes. However, for the 2nd ODI in Indore, too, the men in blue might change their playing XI. On that note, here, we take a look at two changes India could make for the second ODI against Australia despite the win.

1) Mohammed Siraj for Jasprit Bumrah

Siraj was rightly rested for the first ODI. Bumrah and Shami along with Shardul Thakur were a part of the bowling attack. Now, with all the players likely to return for the third ODI, India might rest Bumrah and include Siraj for the second ODI.

Indore is a good batting wicket and it will be a firm test for Siraj. He has been in good form and if he does well again, it will further improve his confidence.

2) Washington Sundar for Ruturaj Gaikwad

Washington Sundar for Ruturaj Gaikwad is one of the changes India could make for the second ODI against Australia despite the win. Having Ruturaj Gaikwad in the squad does not make sense as he would fly to China for the Asian Games. Hence, the team might consider a different combination for the next ODI.

Ishan Kishan looks set to occupy a role in the middle-order. India may or may not ask him to open the innings. Meanwhile, it is important that India gives good game time to both R Ashwin and Washington Sundar before the World Cup. Hence, it would be a wise idea to have Sundar in the team. Firstly, an extra bowling option might be needed in Indore and secondly, it will be challenge for India to play with one less regular batter.
